What changes the price

Run length and termination type do most of the work. A ground-floor laundry room venting straight through a side wall is a short, straight run — quick and predictable. An upstairs laundry room venting up and out through the roof can run 25 feet or more with several elbows, and every bend is a place lint packs in. Rooftop terminations also mean ladder work and roof access, which is why they start higher.

After that: how long it has been. A vent cleaned last year has a light, loose coating. One that has never been cleaned in fifteen years can be genuinely blocked, and clearing compacted lint from a long run takes real time. Bird and squirrel nests are common here in spring and summer when a vent cover is missing or damaged, and clearing a packed nest is more work than a routine cleaning.

Townhomes and condos add their own wrinkle — shared wall cavities and restricted access can make an otherwise short run awkward to reach.
